Besides that, environmentalists love the fact that it causes less pollution than fuel. These vehicles also have the cleanest internal combustion engine. Hence natural gas burnt does not produce as much harmful gases than burning fuel does. Therefore, CNG best meets the purpose of people using vehicles for longer travel time. Cabs, school and public buses, airport shuttles, garbage trucks, government vehicles should all be fitted with CNG.
However, everything isn’t as hunky-dory as it sounds. The engine in NGVs requires plenty of changes and modifications to allow the vehicle smooth drive on natural gas. Also, it’s an expensive deal to convert your fuel engine into a CNG or LNG one. And if you still go ahead with the engine conversion, the efficiency of the vehicle to run on natural gas is greatly reduced.
