Since its total redesign four years ago, Camry has been Toyota's bread-and-butter car, the all-around midsize family machine that is the company's biggest seller by far. The Camry is meant to meet the needs of a wide range of buyers, from those seeking solid basic transportation to slightly more enthusiastic drivers to the luxury-minded, with a mix of sedans, coupes and station wagons in a variety of trim levels.
However the battery of Toyota Camry is regarded as a generic problem. There was a constant complain from the consumers regarding the crank starting of the car every morning. The battery used in the Toyota Camry was type 24R. Group 24F between 570 and 600 amp were also used in some of the cars. Although there were no maintenance problem and the car was quite popular with its performance. Nevertheless, the fifth generation Camry was launched in Japan in December 1996 had good consumer response. It continued as a sedan and station wagon (called the Camry Gracia in Japan), though the latter model was not sold in the United States. This generation was launched in the U.S. for the 1997 model year.
