Biodiesel From Used Motor Oil
We all blame oil companies of minting money from the public by daily increasing the cost of fuel. But there are other companies like Fuji Energy, based in Japan, that are trying to come up with alternatives to crude oil. Companies like this are working towards making the common man breathe easy. |

They have tried producing biodiesel from used motor oil and other waste oils. Fuji Energy has made a device that makes this possible. The machine is small and compact and converts engine oil and other non-usable cooking oils into biodiesel.
With this device, used engine oil and Type A fuel are mixed together in a 40 to 60 ratio. This mixture is then heated. The temperature used for heating is up to 60 degrees Celsius. Heating it leaves a solid mixture behind which then undergoes centrifugation for extraction purpose. Once the solid residue is extracted, the remaining oil goes through precision filter. This process is repeated six to seven times. The result is break down of oil into micron-sized units. When these oil microns are emulsified the resultant is fuel for boilers. The resultant fuel matches with Type A fuel in composition.
The company has this model in place and are conducting tests using it at a hot bath facility in Ehime Prefecture. They claim that their device also helps in getting rid of gas regulations. The equipment is capable of producing 100 liters of oil daily and the cost of running it is not very high, only US $8.70 per month. The device itself has a selling price of $48 000. This fuel is apparently 30% more efficient than normal fuel.
