How Are Fossil Fuels Extracted ?
Human beings in the modern world need and depend on energy for their everyday life. If we do not have energy even for one day, the world can come to a complete stop. Morning, day and night we depend on energy in some way or the other. We depend on electricity and petrol to run our lives. As the world population is increasing, the consumption of fuel and fossil fuels is also increasing. There is more demand than ever for electricity. |

Energy can be derived in two ways actually -- one is from renewable source of power and another is nonrenewable source. Today, most of the world is dependant on nonrenewable source of power. Fossil fuels once used cannot be replaced, and it also takes millions of years for fossil fuels to form. The oil and coal that we use today have formed several million years ago.
Fossil fuels like coal and oil are extracted from the earth. The companies dig deep mines and extract coal which is formed like rocks, several layers underneath in the earth. Oil is also extracted from the same place like rocks and oil wells.
Fossil fuels like coal are found abundantly in the crust of the earth and are not as scarce as oil. Oil consumption is much higher in the world than coal. Oils are available abundantly in deserts because usually it is difficult to mine in a desert. Oil is extracted by digging into the earth several feet under until the oil starts coming out. The process of extraction is very similar to pure water extraction.
