Nuclear power plants are more dangerous and contaminating than fossil fuel plants. They have a high level of radioactive energy levels. The radioactive material is kept inside the plant, but when there is an accident, it could affect the environment very badly and the damage can be felt for several years. A single radioactive leak can remain in the environment and cause cancer for people who live in that environment. Even animals and birds die due to radioactive materials. Nuclear plants are extremely expensive and they take a really long time to be set up. It is difficult to dispose nuclear waste and wherever you dispose it, it is harmful to the environment.
The disadvantages of fossil fuels are that they are highly pollutant in nature. They cause greenhouse effects and contribute to global warming. They will eventually damage the environment. Also, once the fossil fuels are depleted, they cannot be replaced. A huge volume of coal has to be burnt to generate electricity, and fossil fuels emit carbon which is one of the biggest polluting greenhouse gases.
Nuclear power is generally cheaper than conventional power, but it takes a really long time for production. Nuclear power is reliable and they have not caused any deaths until now. The chances of accidents are minimal.
